Parish Weekend 2012 – ‘What’s going to be happening?’

What will we be doing?

The weekend will draw not only on the rich and diverse array of talents within our own congregations, but also on those of Rev’d Mark Townsend. Mark, who will be with us for the whole weekend, is a wonderful combination of progressive Christian priest and stage magician. He uses storytelling and illusion to awaken people to wonder and enchantment, and has a special ability to gently enable his audiences to unwind, relax and take in the beauty of the present moment.

Timetable

The timetable is still in draft form, but we’re aiming to start the weekend with a meal on Friday night followed by an informal get-together featuring the magic of Mark Townsend.
We’ll kick off Saturday with a keynote address with the rest of the day featuring a choice of workshops and free time before finishing with a ceilidh in the evening for everyone to let their hair down. There’ll be more workshops and plenary on Sunday morning, then in the early afternoon we’ll join together for a closing Eucharist.
Over the rest of the weekend there will be opportunities for all to participate in workshops and also to spend free time relaxing alone or with others.

What about children?

We’re trying to make the programme sympathetic to different needs – thinking about our whole community including families (with babies, teenagers or both), single adults, couples, older members and, of course, party animals of whatever age! Many of the workshops will be suitable for children and young people and there’ll be some separate activities too. If you’ve any questions or concerns, please talk to one of the planning group.
