St Marks gives 3.33% of its yearly income to charities and good causes in the UK.
The Home Donations Group considers applications for funds, and then recommends to the Parochial Church Council (PCC) which charities we should support. Last year, we gave £6,533, with grants varying between £25 and £1,200.
We give some charities money on a regular basis, while others receive one-off support.
These are just some of the grants made last year:-
|£800||to Broomhill Groups Support Grant|
|£400||to StopGap (Emergency Night Shelter)|
|£250||to Sheffield Churches Council for Community Care||www.scccc.co.uk|
|£250||to South Yorkshire Migration and Asylum Action Group||www.symaag.org.uk|
|£1,200||to S2 Foodbank|
|£500||to Hope for the Future (Climate Change)||www.hftf.org.uk|
|£200||to St. Wilfred’s Residential Project|
|£50||to Sheffield Agencies for Vulnerable and Excluded|
The Home Donations Group meets twice a year, usually in July and December, to consider funding requests and decide on the recommendations we will make to the PCC. We receive appeals from some charities and are glad to get suggestions from church members. We will welcome new, keen members in the group!
