UK charitable giving

St Marks gives 3.33% of its yearly income to charities and good causes in the UK.

The Home Donations Committee considers applications for funds, and then recommends to the Parochial Church Council (PCC) which charities we should support. Last year, we gave £6,219, with grants varying between £50 and £550.

We give some charities money on a regular basis, while others receive one-off support.

These are just some of the grants made last year:-

£550 to ASSIST www.assistsheffield.org.uk
£400 to The Childrens Society www.childrenssociety.org.uk
£250 to The Church Urban Fund www.cuf.org.uk
£250 to Church Action on Poverty www.church-poverty.org.uk
£250 to Transport 17
£394 to Stop Gap
£50 to Sheffield Campaign against Climate Change
£150 to Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre www.mstherapysyorks.co.uk
£150 to Sheffield Young Carers www.sheffieldyoungcarers.org.uk
£100 to The Student Christian Movement www.movement.org.uk

The Home Donations Committee meets twice a year, usually in July and December, to consider funding requests and decide on the recommendations we will make to the PCC. We receive appeals from some charities and are glad to get suggestions from church members. We will welcome new, keen members on to the committee!
