Students
Welcome to the students and young adult pages! Here you will be able to find out about student and young adult life at St Mark’s Church Sheffield. Find out what we have to offer, and how to get involved.
St Mark’s is endowed with a large, diverse congregation: from students to young families, older people to young professionals. The students at St Mark’s Church feel very much part of a community that engages all sections of the congregation. Thus, students are often found alongside other members of the congregation throughout a range of activities: from running children’s groups, to singing in the choir, to stewarding conferences, to helping organise events for charity.
St Mark's is also well-known as a leading centre for open, inclusive theology. We regularly host conferences led by such exciting, high-profile speakers as Jack Spong, Robert Beckford, John Dominic Crossan and Marcus Borg (see http://www.stmarkscrc.co.uk/news-and-events/crc-events/jesus-unco vering-the-life-teachings-and-relevance-of-a-religious-revolution ary-led-by-marcus-j.-borg). We are a strong voice within the Anglican Communion and beyond, supporting an inclusive attitude towards, for instance, homosexuality and women in the episcopate.
As you will see, St Mark’s Church has much to offer: sensible and responsible theology; services that vary from traditional to alternative; socials that take us to the Lake District and elsewhere; and, above all, a community to which you can belong and make your home.
